Nordic Ski Touring on the Kungsleden in Sweden

In the summer of 2015, we completed our first hike on the Kungsleden. During this trip, we found out that the route was also skied in winter. This concept was new to us at the time, but it had piqued our interest. Since then, we started building up our experience: an avalanche course, lots of reading, winter camping in the Ardennes and the Alps, until we felt comfortable taking the next step. On a summer evening (2018), Bert Ceyssens and I went to grab a beer, because I had something to discuss with him. I told him: “Next winter, let’s do the Kungsleden” and I remember his unequivocal answer: “YES, FUCK YES!”. We also recruited Kristof Van Tricht, who had been with us on the first Kungsleden trip. Bert Schreurs was the one to complete the team. I went on a trip to the Vercors with him last winter and knew he would be up for the job.
